Benefit

Tea is considered the most consumed beverage in the world behind water, however 78% of the tea consumed worldwide is black and only about 20% is green.1

All types of tea except herbal tea are brewed from the dried leaves of the Camellia sinensis bush. The level of oxidation of the leaves determines the type of tea.

Green tea is made from un-oxidized leaves and is the least processed type of tea and therefore contains the most antioxidants and beneficial polyphenols.

Green tea was used in traditional Chinese and Indian medicine to control bleeding and heal wounds, aid digestion, improve heart and mental health and regulate body temperature.4 Recent studies have shown green tea can potentially have positive effects on everything from weight loss to liver disorders to type 2 diabetes.

Roasted Oolong Tea

Oolong tea is a delightful mix between green and black tea, and has often been called "blue-green tea." This tea is manufactured from the tree, Camellia sinensis, from which other types of tea are also produced. The difference is in the processing. Oolong tea is partially fermented, black tea is fully fermented, and green tea is unfermented. It is harvested when the leaves are partially photosynthesized, anywhere between 10-70%. Thus it generally has a darker, richer flavor than green tea, but a lighter flavor than black tea. It is a familiar taste to anyone who frequents Chinese restaurants, as it is the most frequent tea choice served along with meals.

Tea lovers tend to be fans of numerous varieties of oolong. Most attest that it is not merely the taste but also the fragrance of oolong tea, which lends such appeal to the tea. Taste varies with different varieties. Many attribute a strong initially bitter taste and a sweet, melon-like finish to oolong.

Assam Black Tea

A type of black tea, Assam tea is known for its tart, malty flavour, vigorous body and bright colour. It is more commonly known as breakfast tea, or Irish breakfast tea. As it stems from black tea, the leaves a picked of the camellia sinensis plant. The name of Assam tea comes from the area of which it originated in India, close to the borders of Bangladesh and Burma, along the Brahmaputra River. The Assam region is known as the largest tea growing region in the world, with a very long season.

To achieve a perfect Assam tea taste, pour boiled water and 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for three to five minutes then strain the leaves and your beautiful and aromatic tea is ready for your enjoyment. An important factor to remember when preparing the tea is that water quality is of uttermost importance. The water must be free of contaminants and should contain enough oxygen to enhance the natural flavour of the tea. A crisp flavour should be evident when using pure water which also aesthetically pleasant.

Matcha Green Tea

Drinking something just because it’s healthy can be a lot like swallowing medicine. It’s unpleasant and you dread it, but you feel obligated to do it. After all, it’s good for you… right? Sure, but wouldn’t you rather look forward to improving your overall well-being? Of course you would!

Fortunately, unlike a lot of other teas which require sugar, milk, or lemon to make them palatable to the average consumer, Matcha is absolutely wonderful all by itself. It’s crisp vegetative notes are complimented by the savory taste of the L-Theanine amino acid making Matcha a tea that is truly unique in every way. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a delicious bowl of hot Matcha
